Phoot Camp 2011 by nuzz on Flickr.

Via Flickr:
I had the pleasure of shooting along side some amazing photographers at Phoot Camp. After the huge Phootennany photo shoot, Dan Busta, Matthew Mahon and I geeked-out with large format for about an hour. It was a blast working with these guys. We ended up photographing this Texas flag hanging up on a blank white wall. Dan penciled in “Phoot 2011” on the wall, you’ll need a full res copy to see the marks :)

I wandered into Mateo’s barbershop while I was exploring Marfa looking for a hair cut and beard trim. Mateo was kind enough to share a bunch of stories and give me a little history lesson about the town.

Mateo is a native of Marfa, born and raised. When he was young boy he attended the Blackwell school, which at the time was segregated. He then served in the military, stationed in Iceland for several years and decided to return to Texas. He’s been cutting hair in the same shop for 30+ years and the chair shown in the photo was his father’s barber chair.
